Yamaha Motor Co., Ltd. announces the debut of the new “YZF-R15,” a new supersport model mounting a newly designed 150cc liquid-cooled, 4-stroke, SOHC single-cylinder, 4-valve fuel-injected engine on a Deltabox frame. It will be displayed for the first time at “9th Auto Expo – 2008” (Organizer: Confederation of Indian Industry; Venue: Pragati Maidan) in New Delhi from January 10 (Thursday.) to 17 (Thursday.).

Packed full of state-of-the-art technologies, the new YZF-R15 boasts performance worthy of a supersport model and a body design that evokes the image of the YZF-R series and gives visual expression to the quality of its ride. It is truly an embodiment of Yamaha’s desire to bring customers a model to help them “Enjoy riding”.

In Yamaha’s new medium term (3-year) management plan that begins this year and runs through 2010, rebuilding the Yamaha motorcycle business in India has been designated as one of top priorities.

The new YZF-R15 now being unveiled is an example of the objective of “introducing attractive new products” called for in Yamaha’s high value-added marketing strategy for India business, and plans call for it to be released on the market in the middle of this year.
Market background and product summary

Motorcycle demand in India has grown steadily about 8 million units. This makes it the second largest market in the world. Based on the country’s demographics and progress in development of the road system, it is expected that stable growth will continue from now on. Most of the demand (about 80%) is in the 100cc to 200cc motorcycle category, and a large part of the remainder is in the 125cc and under scooter category.

The motorcycle demand in India is driven mainly by young people in their 20s and there is an increasing trend toward European style tastes as seen in the preference for luxury products and stepping up to higher quality goods, which is reflected in growing demand in the trade-in market. Also, among the users in their 20s there is a group that say their dream bike is a 1000cc supersport model, indicating a growing interest in sport bikes.

The new YZF-R15 makes full use of the MotoGP race experience and YZF-R series supersport bike development technology and know-how acquired by Yamaha Motor over the years to create a 150cc supersport bike that offers users to truly “Enjoy riding” in a full range of situations, from around-town riding to touring on winding roads and even aggressive riding on the circuit.

A development concept was to build “a new 150cc supersport” that is the first model for the Indian market designed in the true supersport image and featuring a high-level balance of enjoyable running performance on winding roads, enjoyable performance and riding comfort with a tandem passenger and agile handling through crowded city traffic. The body has been designed to show at a glance that this is a “R series bike” and to give visual expression to technology feedback from the 10 years of YZF-R series development since the series debut in 1998. In this way, it is a direct expression of Yamaha’s motorcycle development ideal of “Exciting Performance & Stylish Design” in the 150cc class.

bajaj pulsar 220

The Bajaj Pulsar 220 DTS-Fi is the latest addition to the Pulsar family of motorcycles from Bajaj Auto. Features differentiating this bike from other members of the DTS-i family include oil cooled, fuel injected engine, front and rear disc braking, tubeless tyres, a digital speedometer console (recently introduced in all other Pulsar editions) and Parabolic/Ellipsoidal projector headlamps.

Bajaj displayed the 220 DTS-Fi at the Delhi Auto Expo 2006. The Indian nationwide launch happened in July 2007.

Features and specifications

With this introduction, Bajaj Auto would achieve a close second in the race to offer a microprocessor-based fuel injected motorcycle to Indian customers, after Hero Honda's 125 cc Glamour FI motorcycle.[1][2] The new Pulsar has a longer wheelbase than its predecessor, factory-fitted front and rear disc brakes and several digital meters. The Pulsar DTS-Fi generates a maximum power of 20 bhp and a maximum torque of 19.13 N·m (14 ft·lbf). It is also claimed to be the first Indian two-wheeler with a hydraulic-actuated rear disc (230 mm) brake. The motorcycle is 2,035 mm in length, 750 mm in width and 1,140 mm in overall height. The curb weight is about 150 kg.

Engine technology

The acronym DTS-Fi stands for Digital Twin Spark Fuel Injection. Like DTS-i (which is the mother technology) the engine has two spark plugs, but, instead of conventionally positioned straight ports, the offset positioning of the ports generate high swirl and turbulence of the air fuel mixture in the combustion chamber. This results in highly efficient combustion that further results in exceptional mileage. Like the mother DTS-i technology, the DTS-Fi technology is a patented technology developed by Bajaj Auto R&D.

HP Pavilion Elite m9040n PC

At some point, you'll find that your old desktop PC is just too damn slow to handle multimedia tasks effectively. (Hint: When you're resizing pictures, ripping MP3s, or transcoding videos from you camcorder for uploading to YouTube, you'll become much better acquainted with that dreaded hourglass than you'd ever hoped to be.) If you've already reached that stage, the HP Pavilion Elite m9040n ($1,190 direct without monitor) may be the system for you. It's HP's next-generation multimedia desktop PC, and you can get it without going into hock.

The m9040n is set to supplant the m8100y as the high-end multimedia desktop in HP's Pavilion lineup. It packs a similar processor and even more multimedia features than its predecessor. The m9040n has the usual media-friendly attributes: an Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 quad-core processor, 3GB of system memory, about 640GB of hard drive space split between twin 320GB hard drives in a RAID 0 array, an over-the-air ATSC (HDTV) tuner (a CableCARD tuner is an option), wireless networking, a digital media card reader, and virtually every port you can think of that will let you hook up a camera, camcorder, MP3 player, or VCR. Smooth doors swing forward to cover these ports and keep the front panel looking clean and neat when they're not in use.

The interior of the case is unfriendly to upgrades. Wires snake throughout the case, and the cage for one of the removable drives obstructs the memory slots. You can remove the cage, but upgrading this system would still be inconvenient. Good thing just about everything you need is already in the system's chassis. The m9040n even has an integrated IR sensor (USB dongles for the MCE remote are one of my pet peeves), but this forward-looking desktop also includes an IR blaster so that you can still control an external cable box if you need to. Last but not least, the top panel on the m9040n is worth special attention: It has a rubberized surface to hold your personal electronics, such as an iPod or digital camera, and cable management near the back to keep USB cables for these products where you expect them to be. Neat stuff.

Although there is no extra room inside the case itself, the m9040n is one of the most expandable desktops I've seen as far as hard drives are concerned. There's an Easy Backup button on the front panel, which is like having a Maxtor OneTouch backup hard drive built into your desktop. Hitting the button brings up a wizard that helps both novice and expert backup artists set the m9040n to back up manually, or as a scheduled automatic backup to either the Personal or Pocket Media Drive (this also works with a third-party external hard drive hooked up via USB). The same button can be used to invoke a restore command that gets your files back if you accidentally erase them. The Easy Backup button also works with internal drives, both of HP's Media Drives, network drives, or external USB or FireWire drives.

The m9040n has a pair of bays for hard drives, namely the Personal Media Drive (desktop class) and the Pocket Media Drive (notebook class), both of which you must purchase separately. (Gateway also offers a similar feature on some of its desktops.) While I like both of these drive formats (which are meant for either extra drive space or backup), I can only hope that the novice user doesn't get confused and buys neither. HP obviously included both formats to reward users who have bought both in the past. This strategy also preempts the inevitable tech-support question that comes from buying the wrong drive cartridges, since you can use either type! Why bother? Well, think about the reaction you'd get if you were to "lose" the video of your child taking her first steps. The Backup button (or any backup method, for that matter) will save your behind. The combination of one of the Media Drives and the Backup button makes the 9040n one of the best setups for the multimedia user.

HP still loads a bunch of bloatware on the m9040n, including the Wild Tangent games, AOL , EarthLink, the trial Office package, and Rhapsody. My take is that if you really wanted all these "free' programs, you'd download them yourself. While many people may want AOL or Office, those who don't will have to uninstall them, and even the best uninstall programs tend to leave detritus all over your hard drive. And like most HP desktops, the m9040n has a paltry 60-day subscription to Norton Internet Security. Dell XPS desktops come with 15 months of protection, and Velocity Micro desktops include a year.

On our tests, the m9040n performs like any other quad-core multimedia system, which is to say it's excellent. The quad-core-equipped m9040n took 1 minute flat to complete our Windows Media Encoder test—significantly faster than dual-core mainstream desktops, which take a minute and a half, and blazingly fast compared with budget PCs, which can take up to 3 minutes. The m9040n likewise finished the Photoshop CS2 test in 42 seconds, faster than all the multimedia systems in our latest PC roundup except for the overclocked Velocity Micro Promagix (8800 GTS SLI). By contrast, value systems can take up to 5 minutes to get through this test. The m9040n finished our new Adobe Photoshop CS3 test in a scorching 29 seconds.

The m9040n's direct competition is the Gateway DX440X and, to a certain extent, the HP Pavilion m8100y. The m9040n blows both away in terms of features, including the dual Media Drive bays. The m9040n is about the same price as the DX440X ($1,108 direct) and is cheaper than the m8100y ($2,199), largely due to the m8100y's $600 HD-DVD/Blu-ray drive. I prefer HP's Media Drives over the one in the DX440X, since the Gateway drive uses a proprietary cable, whereas the HP drives use standard USB cables. The m8100y is a better machine for the serious video geek, but the m9040n is a superb machine for users with (slightly) more mainstream needs.

As a solid, sub-$1,200 multimedia PC, the HP Pavilion Elite m9040n PC lives up to its Elite moniker. I would like to see a HD-DVD/Blu-ray option in the future (though that would raise the price significantly, of course) and a vast reduction in bloatware. For now, though, the m9040n is the desktop I'm going to recommend to friends who want a multimedia base station.

Sony VAIO VGX-TP25E

The Sony VAIO VGX-TP25E ($3,000 direct) is a pricey Digital Entertainment System (DES) or home theater PC with a unique and attractive design. It's meant to sit in your theater cabinet next to the widescreen HDTV. As a home-theater system, it drops some features common to desktop PCs yet adds others that acclimate it to the living-room environment. Though it isn't perfect, the TP25E is a really good fit for the PC you want to hook up to the 65-inch plasma. The TP25E is "mostly wireless," which cuts down on the visual clutter, but there is a big caveat to that statement (read on, dear reader). Blu-ray and a new Penryn-based processor are tech highlights. If you have the means (and the desire), the TP25E is a good choice for the HD-consuming connoisseur.

Dell XPS 420

Posted in

Once in a long while, a major PC manufacturer pulls something out of its hat that is quite simply, a jaw dropping piece of machinery. The Dell XPS 420 is a great example of this. The tested configuration packed in an Intel Quad Core processor running at 2.4 Ghz, 2 GB of RAM, a 320 GB HDD, DVD-Writer, and an Nvidia 8600GT. These items constituted the guts of the machine, but the extra trimmings are what make this machine so special.

Design

The cabinet is undoubtedly the show-stopper. The deep black fascia oozes class, and the stylish silver XPS emblazoned on the gun-metal grey side panels will give you a warm and fuzzy feeling every time you look at it. The top of the cabinet has a recessed platform with a rubber cover. This lets you keep your iPod, PSP or what-have-you on it, and the integrated cable management system will keep the cables from becoming a tangled mess. Dell has even included a little LCD display on the cabinet. Using Windows Vista’s SideShow feature, you can have a bunch of widgets running on this. You could even play Solitaire, but it’s more useful to run utilities that display system information at a glance.

If the TV tuner option is chosen, Dell bundles a proper Media Center remote controller, and a very useful doohickey - an IR blaster. This lets you control your set-top box directly from the remote controller. It’s essentially the missing link that completes the Home Theater PC experience, and we must give kudos to Dell for thinking of this. You also get what Dell calls a Xcelerator. This is essentially a video transcoder chip that is supposed to speed up the re-encoding of certain video formats. On the front of the cabinet you have video input ports that let you hook up your VCR or camcorder, and convert analog video into digital formats. This is of limited use if you are using a new camera, since that will store it in a digital format in any case; but users with extensive VHS collections may find this very useful.

A 20 inch LCD monitor, wireless keyboard and mouse, and a pretty good set of 2.1 speakers complete the package. As an additional extra, you also get a set of Creative EP-630 in-ear headphones.

Performance
Besides being good looking, the XPS is no slouch in the performance stakes either. The motherboard is based off the latest X38 chipset from Intel, and this helps it to a high score of 100 in our real-world benchmark, WorldBench. This is the fastest complete desktop system we’ve tested so far. It also scored 7,345 in PCMark 05 and 5678 in 3DMark06. These scores are very commendable, and if you want a fully-fledged gaming powerhouse, you can choose an Nvidia 8800GT or GTX as an option. Even with the 8600 GT, most games that we tried were quite playable. Crysis needed to be bumped down to 1024x768 and mostly medium settings, but it was playable. Unreal Tournament 3 returned 29 fps at 1680x1050, with graphics set to medium. This is quite good, but it’s not a gaming powerhouse. Spend a bit more and get an Nvidia 8800 GT, and these scores should double at least.

The bundled Adobe Essentials Suite and Soundbooth CS3 add a lot of value for multimedia authoring. The software alone is worth quite a lot of money, and it’s commendable that Dell bundles good quality software tools at this price.

Conclusion
This machine is a winner, no doubt about that. In fact, it does the unthinkable by beating out assembled machines for price. While Rs. 70,000 may seem steep to start with, once you look at this machine, you realize that it’s actually cheaper than anything else out there. We have no hesitation in awarding the Dell XPS 420 a Superior rating. Now if only they’d change the model number from 420 to something else.

Smart Design, Spartan Features

The cabinet’s largest dimension is less than one foot! And with a height of 8 cm, this PC can be placed anywhere, literally. Thanks to the solid build quality, you can even place the monitor on the cabinet on a really cramped desk.

There are two USB ports and an audio in and out in the front. Four more USB connectors are on the rear panel, but two of them will be occupied by a keyboard and mouse as there are no PS/2 ports. There is no Firewire either. The only other connectivity is the three audio ports at the back panel. This is a machine intended for business use and the connectivity and features are just enough to ‘get the work done’ and nothing more. Gigabit LAN connectivity helps in faster transfers of huge files in offices.

The supplied keyboard is neither soft touch nor tactile per se; but it does take a bit of effort to press the keys which is usually the case with tactile keyboards. For business users who may need to spend a lot of time typing, a more tactile feedback would have been preferable. The mouse, on its part, in typical IBM / Lenovo fashion, is solid and is big enough to easily fit into the palm. The feel and the response are good and most users should not find this a problem.

Lenovo has done away with a CPU fan for A61e, thanks to the smart choice of going for a CPU that consumes less power and produces less heat and using a large passive heat sink. The optional 19 inch wide screen monitor is bright, color neutral and shows a slight red tinge only when viewed at wide angles.

The small motherboard in the A61e uses 200 pin laptop RAM rather than the usual 240 pin DDR2 that regular desktops use. So, upgrading will be slightly more expensive.

Modest Performance

A WorldBench 6.0 score of 63 will not take the A61e to any performance podium, but it indicates that the machine is capable of carrying the load of a typical office user. Office Suites, browsing and e-mail will all be easily possible, with some music running in the background. Similarly, a PC Mark 2005 score of 3027 places it slightly below an average desktop. But these won’t pose problems for its intended office tasks.

The CPU powering the A61e is the Athlon X2 BE-2350 (2.1 GHz, 1MB L2 cache) which is a lower power consuming version of the dual core AMD Athlon X2 family.

RAM is 1GB DDR2 in the test sample we received, but Lenovo’s website mentioned only 512MB as on the date of this review. So before buying, check on the RAM as this can seriously affect performance. Graphics is handled by the ATI X1200 on a motherboard that uses the RS690 chip.

Verdict

Given its size and noise free operation, it’d have been great if Lenovo had included an HDMI or S-video out – this could have doubled up as a work-cum-entertainment PC at home. But, we really can’t fault Lenovo for this as the company has clearly marked this for a business audience. In its default configuration consisting of 512MB RAM, no monitor and only DOS 2000 as the OS, it costs Rs. 16,700. With a 19-inch wide screen monitor, 1 GB RAM and Vista Business, the price goes up to Rs. 40,000.

WEB HOSTING

Posted in

Web hosting is a service that allows users to post Web pages to the Internet. A Web host, or hosting service provider (HSP), is a business that provides the technologies and services needed for Web sites to be viewed on the Web.

Web hosting is a primary service that consumers can utilize after obtaining either dial-up or broadband access to the Internet. It allows users to disseminate their own information resources to any Internet user that is interested in accessing them. Web hosting utilizes the server/client model to distribute content. A Web hosting provider will offer its clients access to a Web server that will push that client's content to recipients on request. Recipients use clients, or Web browsers, such as Microsoft Internet Explorer or Netscape Navigator to request content from the Web over their own Internet connection.

Web sites are hosted, or stored, on a special computer called a server. The server, or host computer, allows Internet users connected anywhere to reach your site when they put in your domain address, for example: www.yourcompany.com.

The host computers are set up so that when someone types in your domain name (your Web address), the address will follow a route from computer to computer until it reaches your host computer and your web site. Then the Internet user will be able to browse through your Web site. Hosting companies usually require that you own your own domain name in order to host with them. If you don't have a domain name, most hosting companies will help you purchase one.

To have a Web site on the Internet you first need to have a Web server. Unfortunately, owning and operating a Web server can be very costly and requires technical expertise that most businesses do not possess. This is where "Web hosts" come in. Web hosts provide the equipment and other technical resources that are required to provide a consumer with their own customized Web site. Hosting companies charge a rental fee for the service of storing your Web site and allowing Web site visitor traffic flow to through their computers to get to the information on your site.

Web hosting services are more advantageous because they are outsourced, meaning that the physical location of the Web server does not reside at the consumer's premises. Outsourcing your Web presence effectively transfers the responsibility for maintaining your Web site infrastructure from yourself to an organization that is more competent to do so.

Many individuals and small businesses take advantage of Web hosts in order to free themselves from pre-occupying their scarce human and financial resources on Web host issues. Individuals and companies who outsource their Web presence do so in order to achieve the following objectives: reduce and control operating costs; improve their own company focus; gain access to in-depth expertise; free internal resources for core competencies; and obtain access to world-class capabilities to control IT functions which are difficult to manage.

The best Web hosting services will provide relatively seamless access to IT functions that will allow you to self-publish your Web site. It is important to note that "Web hosting" strictly refers to providing the consumer with the capacity to upload content to a server for immediate transmission for those that request it. Web hosting does not include the authoring of a Web site or the development of database-driven components or code. It is incumbent upon the consumer of Web hosting services to develop this material or have it developed on his or her behalf.

Web hosting is offered to the consumer in multiple formats based upon the user's requirements. These requirements are incumbent upon cost and infrastructure provided.

Web hosting can be obtained free of cost from content portal sites such as Yahoo! GeoCities. Such content sites invite individual users to establish Web sites on their domain in order to create a critical mass of core content on their online property. The user does not pay for service because it is subsidized by banner advertising. Because such sites do not charge, they offer limited service depth and quality of service. For example, free services will not provide customized hosting services where domain names are personalized (i.e., www.yourdomain.com).

The "paid" class of Web hosting services however does provide such services. Paid services are normally offered by Internet service providers (ISPs) or by hosting service providers (HSPs). Paid services provide a reliable set of offerings that ensure domain name personalization, service depth and high levels of quality of service. The paid class of Web hosting includes shared, dedicated and managed services. Shared is the most basic level of hosting. With shared hosting, numerous Web sites are shared on one server. While an economic solution, they typically cannot handle large amounts of storage or traffic.

If a consumer's needs are more sophisticated, then they might opt for either dedicated or managed services.

Dedicated hosting allots a Web site its own server. This is more flexible than shared hosting, as webmasters typically have full control over the back end of the server, including choice of OS.

Managed hosting, on the other hand is a dedicated server that is accompanied by a full suite of technical support, maintenance and monitoring services. This differs from dedicated Web hosting, where customers are provided with their own servers but are still responsible for virtually all administrative and maintenance duties.

calling tricks

Posted in

Yes , you heard me right you can simply automate most of your operations like talking to a customer care representative.

Lets first analyze what happened when you dial your customer care you want to directly talk to customer care representative and you want to cut out the crap that you have to listen and press the corresponding keys on your phone to go forward.

So when you dial number, +12345678, followed by “p” character, which means pause. The “p character will pause the dial sequence for 1 second“. If you find 1 second is not enough, you can enter more “p” characters

If you want to automate the call and don’t want to press the keys do it this way.

Lets assume that your customer care no is 1234 and the combination of keys you have to press is 1120

So to automate this process type 1234p1p1p2p0 and press the dial button you will be directly routed to the customer care representative ,you can use this procedure to answer any automated system.

rapidshare tips

Here are some hints to help you more efficently use rapidshare. Skipping waiting time and bypassing download limits are rapidshare hacks that everybody should know.

RapidShare: NIC tricks and MAC cloning to bypass download limit

Rapidshare traces the users IP address to limit each user to a certain amount of downloading per day. To get around this, you need to show the rapidshare server a different IP address.

Here Are Some Methods For Doing This:

1. Short-Out the JavaScript:

1. Goto the page you want to download
2. Select FREE button
3. In the address bar put the following: javascript:alert(c=0)
4. Click OK
5. Click OK to the pop-up box
6. Enter the captcha ( Verification Code )
7. Download Your File

2. Request a new IP address from your ISP server.

Here's How To Do It In Windows:

1. Click Start
2. Click run
3. In the run box type cmd.exe and click OK
4. When the command prompt opens type the following. ENTER after each new line.
ipconfig /flushdns
ipconfig /release
ipconfig /renew
exit

5. Erase your cookies in whatever browser you are using.
6. Try the rapidshare download again.

Frequently you will be assigned a new IP address when this happens. Sometime you will, sometimes you will not. If you are on a fixed IP address, this method will not work. To be honest, I do not know how to do this in linux/unix/etc. If this works for you, you may want to save the above commands into a batch file, and just run it when you need it.

3. Use a proxy with SwitchProxy and Firefox:

1. Download and install Firefox if you have not already
2. Download and install SwitchProxy
3. Google for free proxies
4. When you hit your download limit, clean your cookies and change your proxy

4. Use an anonymous service:

Running your system through the tor network should in theory work; however, it is difficult to use and setup. Plus, you allow others to run their evil deeds through your system as well by using this system. Anonymizer 2005 is inexpensive, easy to use, but not free. Other pay services would likely work as well.

5. You can use a bookmarklet to stop your wait times:

1. Open IE
2. Right Click On This Link
3. Select Add to Favorites
4. Select Yes to the warning that the bookmark may be unsafe.
5. Name it "RapidShare No Wait"
6. Click on the Links folder (if you want to display it in your IE toolbar)
